8th Grade Calendar 2019-2020
September 3, 2019 - Welcome back! First day of school with dismissal at noon.
September 4 – October 6, 2019 – Charleston Wrapping Paper Sale This is a school-wide fundraiser. Preschool - grade 6 students will raise funds for the school’s general technology fund. Grades 7 – 8 will raise money for their class trips. Each individual grade 7 - 8 student will keep 40% profit on most items (30% on a few) in a individual account to use to offset the cost of his/her trip.
September 13, 2019 – Camp Storer. This will be a single day outing (including lunch) of team building activities and rock wall climbing.
September 17, 2019 - Back to School Night for Parents (6:30pm)
September 27, 2019 - Fall Fest in gym.
November 2, 2019 (9:30-11:15am) – Candidate & Sponsor Retreat in Gym - Sponsors attend with Candidates (another adult may attend if sponsor is unavailable)
November 2, 2019 (11:30am-12:30pm) – Rite of Enrollment Mass in Church - Family attends with sponsor and candidate
October 31, 2019 – Halloween Parade and Living Saints Museum Our Living Saints Museum will open shortly after our 8th grade students guide their little 2nd grade buddies in Star’s Annual Halloween Parade. Each 8th grade will take on the persona of a saint and engage the rest of the school in conversation about that saint’s life. Parents are encouraged to stay after the parade to talk to our saints. Students and families will learn more about the requirements of this project in early October.
November 1, 2019 – All Saints Day. This is a holy day of obligation. Parents are invited to join us for Mass at 10:00am.

November 9, 2019 - Flag Football Game Star vs. St. Paul at Liggett Football Field at 1:00pm

January 31, 2020 – Special Person’s Day. 8th grade Mass followed by 7th and 8th graders and their guests making 1500 lunches for the homeless in Detroit.
